The author of the book “Being a mother without pressure” shares the mistakes that Vietnamese mothers often make when taking care of their children, causing them to lose their appetite or not grow.
Children raising forever still not great
Weight problems are always a concern for many parents, especially when they pay too much attention to growth numbers. More than 60% of parents who visit a nutritionist are concerned about the standard height and weight index of the World Health Organization (WHO). Vietnamese mother is also among them. I find every way to add more nutrients to increase the index, but few observations to understand the needs of the young body, the way to supplement the appropriate nutrition for good absorption. Consequently, children may be obsessed with food leading to anorexia, malnutrition or overweight, obesity.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has provided guidance to help parents have a view of not too misleading growth. Index on growth chart: height by age, weight by age, height weight – BMI (Body Mass Index) 5th – 70th is not the same as class rank. BMI calculation: weight (kg) / height x height (m), if BMI of children younger than 5th is malnourished, 5th – normal 85th, greater than or equal to 85th overweight.
Children who have a BMI within the 70th area do not mean better or worse than those with 5th. The value that parents read only reflects their current value. Each child will be different in hereditary genes, physical condition, and environmental factors. I can’t compare like “My child is 70th, your child has 3th, why is he so stubborn” or “look at you sick or fat”. Comparison of this type is very lame. If you try to push him from 3th to 70th in a while, you will have problems.
The growth trend of children is more important and adults need to observe at least 3 different development periods, each time about 3-4 weeks apart to recognize that they are growing well or on overweight fat. The advice for parents is to believe in them and understand their feelings and needs. Adults should help children choose a variety of food sources to increase nutrition and hygienic processing to reduce cross-contamination food, create an interactive dining atmosphere and explore. When parents do their job well, they will interact and eat better.
Besides using qualitative method as above instruction to monitor growth trend, you can observe your child’s interaction, movement and cognitive expression. If there are unclear issues, parents should consult a dietitian.
Children do not eat

Children are dominated, the brain focusses on the animation on the screen without noticing the food being put into the mouth. In the development of eating behavior, these two cases do not help your child recognize the existence of food both in terms of taste and structure. Anorexia continues, tends to be complicated and obesity is also a concern when feeding children the wrong way.
The cause of anorexia children also due to imbalance of intestinal microflora. The digestive system is considered the “second brain” because it performs important neurological, immunological and nutrient absorption functions. The imbalance of bacteria and bacteria causes food to not absorb well, producing many irritating compounds while eating like gas, increasing the attack of harmful bacteria.
